Version 1.05 (Beta)
(c) 1993-94

Quick And Simple:
-----------------
Let's cut the Crap, and go straight to the info. Previously, this
program has had some difficulties, which I hope have been resolved
in this version. Some of the functions have be temporarily commented
out, in an attempt to resolve weird hardware conflicts.
This program will currently NOT:
■ Play .MOD files when a user pages the SysOp.
■ Read the RemoteAccess style 'EXITINFO.BBS'
■ Toggle ANY WantChat flags.
■ Detect Users that DON'T have an ANSi compatible terminal
program, and boot them out.
This program currently:
■ Plays PC Speaker page files in the UChat format.
■ Asks a user for a reason, before paging the SysOp.
■ Allows the SysOp to configure the User and SysOp colours.
■ Searches for 'UChat.Cfg' in the Current directory, as well as the
directory that UChat.EXE was executed from.
■ Allows the SysOp to define Macros. See the sample file 'UChat.MAC'.
■ Comes archived with some neat tunes.
■ Has built in Virus/Hack protection.
■ Will impress most users that have ANSi emulation.
■ Will Randomly Select A Saying When The SysOp is not Home!
■ IS FREE!!
Setup:
------
UnArchive the 'UCPages.ZIP' into a Directory called 'TUNES' or
whatever, inside a directory called 'UCHAT' off of your BBS directory.
eg. C:\
|--RA
|--UChat
|--Tunes
To set UChat up, first run 'UConfig.EXE', and fill in the appropriate
information, and press 'F1' on the fields that require a filename to
popup the FileWindow. Once you have entered all of the correct
information, press 'ESC' then 'Y' to Quit.
I would then suggest editing 'UChat.Mac' to contain any macros that you
might desire. There are some examples in that file, but i'm SURE that
you can come up with MANY more eh!
Next, change the file called 'UChat.Say'. This file can contain upto
15 of you favorite sayings. A random saying is picked out of this file
whenever you aren't there to answer a page, or whenever you abort a
page. Some examples are contained within the file.
Use the file 'UCPlay.EXE' in the 'Tunes' directory to play UChat format
of page files. Use 'RAPlay.EXE' to play the OLD RemoteAccess type play
files. Use 'RA2UChat.EXE' to convert the RemoteAccess type chat files
in to UChat's Format.
You must pass the Port, Baud, User FirstName, User LastName, and
User Security on the command line of UChat. RemoteAccess SysOps would
use a Type 7 with the following Optional Data:
*C /C C:\RA\UCHAT\UCHAT.EXE -A *P *B "*F *L" 32000 *M
*P is the Port Number.
*B is the Baud Rate.
*F is the User's First Name.
*L is the User's Last Name.
*M tells RemoteAccess to swap out of memory, leaving UChat more memory.
All of this information is in the Manual, so if this will NOT work for
you, then I suggest that you 'RTFM', or 'READ THE FARGING MANUAL'!! I
would assume that SysOps of different BBS types should NOT have any
problems with this, unless they run some kind of cheap BBS software!
You can also set UChat up as a Hot-Key, so that you just have to use
an F-Key to FORCE a chat with a user. Follow the SAME procedure as
above, except instead of the '-A' (For ASK), use a '-F' (To FORCE).
People that just wanna use UChat from home can just type something like
this from the command line, to chat with a friend or something:
UChat.EXE 1 2400 "Some Fool" 32000
This would tell UChat to use COM1, with a Baud Rate of 2400. It would
also allow this user to access any macro LOWER THAN or EQUAL TO 32000.
BUGS:
-----
Doh! I hate bugs, but if you happen to find one then PLEASE tell me,
but brake it to me gently!
